Buying and receiving
Order it in one pass. Scan it in when it lands.
A purchase order should take one screen, not four. Purser puts the supplier, the variants, the costs and the running total in a single view — then hands the same order to whoever is standing at the back door with a scanner.
Shopify Admin
Purchase order: single-screen workspace
| Variant | On hand | Supplier cost | Live margin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pegasus (9) | 12 | $45.00 | 55.0% |
| Pegasus (10) | 18 | $45.00 | 55.0% |
| Pegasus (11) | 4 | $47.50 | 52.5% |
Supplier cost rose $2.50 on Pegasus (11). Margin falls to 52.5%.
The buying screen
Every number a buyer needs, on one row
Search the catalogue, add variants in bulk, and set costs as you go. Margin updates as you type, so a supplier's price rise is something you notice while you are ordering — not at the end of the quarter.
Native Shopify, by contrast
- 1Select the products
- 2Save the draft
- 3Open a separate screen
- 4Edit the quantities
- 5Save again
Purser collapses all five into one pass, on one row, without leaving the screen.
Receiving
What receiving actually does
Scan to receive
Scan a barcode and the line is found. The count goes up, the cost you actually paid is recorded, and the stock is written into Shopify inventory.
One row, every number
Quantity, unit cost, retail price, live margin percentage and on-hand — on the same line, editable in place. Cost and price edits write back to the product.
Receive to any location
Purchase orders are raised against a location, and stock is received into that location, so multi-store and warehouse setups stay straight.
Part-deliveries
Suppliers short you. Receive what turned up; the order stays open with the balance outstanding until the rest arrives, and the cost is recalculated each time.
PDF purchase orders
Download any purchase order as a PDF — free, on every plan. Pro emails it straight to the supplier for you.
Corrections and credit notes
Received the wrong count, or billed for goods that never came? Correct it, void it, or raise a credit note. The history stays visible, because a ledger you can quietly rewrite is not a ledger.
Scan receive items. We have thousands of items and manual receive is going to be incredibly time consuming and will result in receiving errors.

Stocky stops working on 31 August 2026
The supplier records, costs and purchase-order history you built up over years do not move to Shopify by themselves. Export them, bring them into Purser, and keep the ledger you have been running your shop on.
Free plan, five purchase orders a month. Pro is $37.99 a month, flat.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I scan with a phone, or do I need a scanner?
Either. The receiving screen is built with Shopify's own components and works at the narrow widths of the Shopify mobile admin, so it takes input from a phone camera or from a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner behaving as a keyboard.
How is this different from Shopify's own purchase orders?
Shopify walks you through several screens to build one order, and afterwards records the cost of your stock as the last price you paid. Purser gives you one screen to build the order, one screen to receive it, and a weighted-average cost that survives contact with a second delivery.
Does it work with multiple locations?
Yes. Each purchase order belongs to a location, and stock received against it lands in that location's inventory. There is no extra charge for additional locations.
What if I receive the wrong quantity?
Correct the receipt. Purser adjusts the inventory and recalculates the weighted-average cost, and the correction stays in the history rather than overwriting what was there. Corrections and voids are free on every plan — you should never have to pay to fix your own mistake.
