About the Stocky shutdown

When does Stocky stop working?

Stocky stops working on 31 August 2026. Shopify delisted it from the App Store on 2 February 2026, so it can no longer be installed, and after 31 August the app and its API stop working entirely. If your data is still only inside Stocky on 1 September, it is not reachable.

Does my Stocky data move to Shopify automatically?

No. Shopify is bringing purchase orders, stock adjustments and transfers into the admin, but your existing Stocky records do not come with them. Historical purchase orders, stocktakes, supplier lead times, case pack sizes and average unit costs are not migrated. Export everything to CSV before 31 August 2026, whichever app you move to.

What exactly should I export from Stocky before it goes?

Purchase orders, products with their costs, suppliers, and any stocktake and reporting history you rely on. Export purchase orders even if you think you will not need them, because Stocky has no supplier export and the purchase-order file is the only place your supplier list can be rebuilt from. The migration guide has the full list and the order to do it in.

Is Shopify's native inventory management enough to replace Stocky?

For some shops, yes. If you used Stocky only to raise purchase orders and move stock between locations, the native admin covers that and costs nothing. It does not cover demand forecasting, reorder suggestions, average unit cost, or accounts payable. Whether that matters depends on which parts of Stocky you actually opened each week.

What was Stocky's average unit cost, and does Shopify have it?

Average unit cost was the average of what you actually paid for the stock you hold, recalculated each time you received a purchase order. Shopify does not have it. Shopify's own documentation states: "Average unit costs are unique to Stocky and don't display in Shopify." The Shopify admin stores one cost per item, the last price you paid.

What should I use instead of Stocky?

It depends on which part of Stocky you miss. For demand forecasting, Prediko. For multi-channel selling, Sumtracker. For multi-location with landed cost and accounting sync, Qoblex. For scan-first receiving, EasyScan. For accounts payable and true average cost, Purser. There is an honest comparison with prices on the Stocky alternatives page.

What Purser does

What is Purser?

Purser is a Shopify admin app for purchase orders, barcode receiving and accounts payable. It raises orders, receives stock on one screen, tracks what you owe each supplier with due dates and payment status, and calculates weighted-average cost across every delivery. It runs inside the Shopify admin with no separate login.

Does Purser calculate weighted-average cost?

Yes. Each time stock is received, Purser weights the cost of what you already hold against the cost of what arrived, including on partial deliveries, and keeps the history of each delivery behind the average. Shopify on its own stores a single cost per item, the last price you paid on a purchase order.

How is that different from Shopify's cost per item?

Shopify's cost per item is one field holding the last price you paid. A new delivery at a different price overwrites it for every unit you hold, not just the units that arrived. Purser instead keeps a running weighted average across every delivery, so the cost you see reflects everything you have actually paid, not just the most recent invoice.

Why Shopify's cost per item is misleading
Can Purser email purchase orders to my suppliers?

Yes, on the Pro plan. Purser emails the purchase order to the supplier as a PDF. On the free plan you can download the PDF for every order and send it yourself. Emailing orders and the purchase-order limit are the only two differences between the plans.

Does Purser handle part-deliveries?

Yes. Receive what turned up, leave the remainder outstanding on the same order, and receive it later. The average cost recalculates on each receipt rather than on the order total, so a delivery split across three weeks at two different prices produces the right average.

Does Purser work with a barcode scanner?

Yes. Purser's receiving screen accepts any barcode scanner that behaves as a keyboard, which is nearly all of them, including the handhelds most shops already have. Scan a barcode and the row appears with quantity, cost, retail price, live margin and on-hand quantity on it.

Does Purser support multiple locations?

Yes, on both plans, with no per-location charge. Stock received in Purser is written to the Shopify location you receive it into.

Can I import my history from Stocky?

Yes, and the import is free on every plan. Purser imports purchase orders, products and costs from CSV, and rebuilds your supplier list from the purchase-order export, which matters because Stocky has no supplier export of its own. Any CSV works, so you can bring history in from a spreadsheet or another app the same way.

What Purser does not do

Does Purser do demand forecasting or suggest reorder quantities?

No. Purser does not forecast demand, calculate reorder points, or suggest what to buy. That is a deliberate choice, not a gap waiting to be filled, and it is the thing Stocky users most often want back. If forecasting is what you need, Prediko and Forstock do it and Purser does not.

Does Purser sync with QuickBooks or Xero?

No. Purser keeps the payables ledger inside Shopify and exports it as CSV whenever your bookkeeper wants it. A direct accounting integration is not built and is not promised. If a live two-way sync with your accounting software is a requirement, Qoblex does that and is the better buy for you.

Does Purser sell on Amazon, eBay or TikTok?

No. Purser is Shopify only. If you need one stock pool across several sales channels, Sumtracker and Qoblex are built for that.

Does Purser pay my suppliers?

No. Purser never moves money and never touches your bank. It records what you owe, what is due when, and what you have paid, so the ledger is right. Payment happens however you already pay: bank transfer, card, or Shopify Bill Pay if you are a US merchant.

Is there a mobile app?

No. Purser runs in the Shopify admin, which works in a mobile browser and in the Shopify mobile app, but the receiving screen is built for a desk or a counter with a scanner rather than for a phone.

Shopify Bill Pay

Does Shopify already do accounts payable?

Partly, and only for some merchants. Shopify Bill Pay, built with Melio, receives supplier invoices and pays them. It is available only to merchants whose store is based in the United States. It handles bills as bills, and does not connect an invoice to the purchase order it came from, the delivery received against it, or the cost of the item on the shelf.

Should I use Purser or Shopify Bill Pay?

If you want to pay bills from the Shopify admin and your store is US-based, use Bill Pay. If you want to know what you owe each supplier against what they actually delivered, and what your stock cost as a result, that is Purser. They do different jobs and running both is a reasonable setup.

Pricing

Is there really a free plan?

Yes. Five purchase orders a month with every other feature switched on: accounts payable, weighted-average cost, barcode receiving, credit notes, corrections, exports and the CSV import. The free plan limits how many orders you create. It never locks you out of data you have already entered.

See the pricing page
What happens when I hit five purchase orders in a month?

You are asked to upgrade if you want to raise a sixth, and the allowance resets on the 1st. Everything else keeps working: you can still receive stock against orders you already raised, record payments, correct mistakes, run the aging report and export your data.

How much is Pro, and what does it add?

Pro is $37.99 a month. It removes the purchase-order limit and emails purchase orders directly to suppliers. That is the entire difference. There is no feature held back from the free plan other than those two things.

Are there transaction fees, per-location fees or user fees?

No. There is no charge per purchase order, per unit received, per location or per staff member. Pro is one flat monthly price and the free plan is free.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

You drop to the free plan and your data stays where it is. Purchase orders, invoices, payments and cost history remain readable and exportable. Purser does not lock a ledger behind a subscription.

How is billing handled?

Through Shopify. The charge appears on your normal Shopify invoice and you can change or cancel the plan from your Shopify admin. Purser never sees or stores a card number.

Trust and support

Who builds Purser?

Purser is built by Purser HQ, a small independent developer of Shopify admin apps. Purser is not affiliated with or endorsed by Shopify, and it is not affiliated with Stocky. Support is answered by the person who builds it, at support@gopurser.com.

What data does Purser access?

Purser reads and writes products, variants, inventory levels and locations in your Shopify store, which is what raising and receiving purchase orders requires. It does not access customer data or order data. The privacy policy has the full list.

Read the privacy policy
How do I get help?

Email support@gopurser.com. Purser is built by one person, so you are not going through a queue to reach someone who knows the answer.
